Marmomacc is considered by trade operators and professionals as the landmark world event in the field and in 2009 welcomed more than 1,500 exhibitors, of which almost 49% international (from 54 countries), over a net area of more than 76 thousand square metres.

Innovations at the 2009 edition included attendance by exhibitors from five new countries - Afghanistan, Algeria, Slovenia, Syria and Tunisia - several international "group shows" from all over the world (Argentina, India, Pakistan and Brazil by way of Iran, Jordan, Turkey, China and Taiwan) and as many as five training courses dealing with the use of stone in modern architecture for hundreds of international designers discovering new materials in their constructions.
The calendar over the four days of the event included 28 conventions covering topics associated with innovative design, production and processing, transport and monitoring of emerging markets.
