MARMOMACC MEETS DESIGN 2010

For the fourth consecutive year, Marmomacc Meets Design focuses on its successful formula: stimulate new prospects for the marble and stone sector, with the objective that evolution
and design emerge and develop through a direct and constant relationship with the production system.

The marvellous success achieved in previous editions is confirmed by involvement in 2010 not only by the "historic" companies of the event but also new realities that - with the hallmark of innovation - have decided to measure up for the first time with a project that year by year catalyses growing interest and visibility.

The traditional company-designer pairing will be joined in 2010 by two new initiatives extending
the attention of Marmomacc Meets Design on an urban and regional scale.
The Mendrisio Academy of Architecture, in its annual exploration and re-qualification project that
in 2010 focuses on the city of Varese, has chosen Marmomacc to investigate - with Riccardo Blumer - a project for street furniture in Botticino stone with the direct involvement of the Brescia Marble Consortium.

The Policy Area for Development, Employment and Innovation of the Puglia Region, on the other hand, will bring together four of the best known and most widely used stones of Puglia with four talented young designers who have already won important recognition from critics and companies.

The new topic for investigation is IRREGULAR-EXCEPTIONAL: characterised by atypical perceptive and sensorial aspects and uniqueness seen not only as a return to a natural
and “original” component but also as individuality and customisation.

Designers and companies:
Patricia Urquiola with Budri, Luca Scacchetti with Finstone S.A.R.L., Aldo Cibic with Grassi Pietre, Giovanni Vragnaz with Iaconcig, Thomas Sandell with Marsotto, Marco Piva with MGM Furnari, Manuel Aires Mateus with Pibamarmi, Enrico and Viola Tonucci with Stonehenge, Riccardo Blumer and the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture with the Brescia Marble Consortium, Tomás Alonso, Stefan Diez, Luca Nichetto, Philippe Nigro with the Puglia Region.
